Scope of Work
This weekend house was commissioned for a private plot of approximately 2,186 m² owned by Dr. Süleyman Çömez and Türkan Çömez, located in Karıt Village.
According to existing zoning regulations, the project was limited to a two-storey residential structure with a maximum footprint of 100 m². Considering the site’s view orientation, solar exposure, and its relation to the main road, the building was positioned linearly and parallel to the road axis. Due to the natural slope of the land, the ground floor placement resulted in a partially exposed basement level, which was integrated into the design.
The house was organized as a reverse duplex, establishing a direct relationship between the garden entrance, garage access, and main living spaces. The architectural approach focused on creating a simple yet enduring mass, aiming for a minimal expression capable of maintaining its aesthetic value over time.
The form can be described as an extended extrusion of a gable-roof volume, where roof, wall, and floor surfaces are perceived as a continuous spatial element. Recessed side facades incorporating full-height windows and sun-shading elements were designed to create dynamic light and shadow effects while providing protection from continuous sun exposure due to the open surroundings of the site.
A large terrace extending toward the landscape-facing side strengthens the relationship between interior spaces and the natural environment. The result is a modest yet distinctive weekend house defined by clarity of form, environmental responsiveness, and long-term architectural simplicity.
